Chapter 19: The Cardiovascular System : Blood
Vessels

Chapter 19 focuses on the blood vessels within the human body. By understanding the function and characteristics of each blood vessel, a person can understand how they are considered the transport system within the body.

There are three main types of blood vessels:

Arteries carry O2 rich blood throughout the body from the heart.

Veins are considered the blood reservoirs by carrying de-O2 blood from the body to the heart.

Capillaries are located within organs and other areas of the body. They are the sites of exchange. They supply O2 blood in exchange for CO2.
