Chapter 1: A View Of Life
|
Every subject you take in school will usually have an introduction chapter. In
cases such as Government, you will study the Constitution before jumping into
Government. The same goes for most general educational classes. Biology is no
different.
In this book, "A View of Life" is your introductory chapter. It explains the
differences between such things as communities and populations, ecosystems
and biospheres.
So with all the words pasted on pages within this chapter, there is still an
elementary question....What is biology?
Biology is the study of living organisms. Unfortunately, you will not be able to
explore living creatures as some of you might like. While taking the lab for this
class you must work with nonliving things. It will help you better understand
some of the specimens used in this course by being able to explore them from
the inside out.
